Our Mission

Financial Clarity Is a Right, Not a Product

SalaryGiga exists because salary information in the United States has always been needlessly complicated, scattered across government publications that most people never read, and summarized badly in online calculators that often get the numbers wrong.

We built a platform that does the hard work — pulling directly from IRS withholding tables, BLS occupational wage data, Census Bureau income statistics, and HUD housing data — and makes the output simple, accurate, and free.

No registration. No email walls. No “premium” calculators. Every tool on this site works immediately, for everyone.

“When someone is deciding whether to accept a $90,000 offer in Seattle or $80,000 in Austin, ‘approximately $55k–$65k take-home’ is not an answer. It’s a guess. We give exact numbers.”

Our Approach

How SalaryGiga Works

Three principles guide every calculator, every page, and every data decision we make.

01

Government Data Only

Every tax rate, wage benchmark, and cost-of-living figure on SalaryGiga traces back to a primary U.S. government source — IRS, BLS, Census Bureau, or HUD. We never estimate. We never use third-party salary databases.

02

Quarterly Verification

Tax laws change. Wage data updates. Cost of living shifts. Our licensed CPA reviews and updates all federal tax brackets, state rates, FICA limits, and wage statistics every quarter — not just once a year.

03

Your Data Stays Private

All calculations run in your browser. Your salary, state, and filing status are never sent to our servers, never stored, and never associated with your identity. We built it this way by design, not as an afterthought.

Data Integrity

Our Primary Data Sources

Four official U.S. government agencies power every number on SalaryGiga.

IRS
Internal Revenue Service
2024 federal withholding tables, tax brackets, standard deductions, and FICA rates from Publication 15-T
BLS
Bureau of Labor Statistics
Occupational Employment & Wage Statistics — 800+ occupations across 600+ metropolitan areas
CB
U.S. Census Bureau
American Community Survey — median household income and cost-of-living data by county and metro area
HUD
HUD Fair Market Rents
Annual fair market rents for 530 U.S. metropolitan areas, used in all cost-of-living comparisons
What We Stand For

Our Commitments to You

Six things SalaryGiga will always be. No exceptions.

🔓

Always Free

Every calculator, every state, every salary level. No registration, no email capture, no “premium” tier. Financial clarity should not have a paywall.

🏛️

Government Sources Only

We cite every data point. If we can’t link it to an official government publication, we don’t publish it. No estimates, no crowd-sourced salary data.

🔒

Privacy First

Your financial inputs never leave your browser. We designed our calculators to run client-side from day one. Your salary is your business.

📅

Quarterly Updates

We update every tax rate, wage benchmark, and data source every quarter — not just when the IRS publishes in January. Stale data costs people money.

📋

Full Transparency

Every calculator shows exactly which IRS table, BLS dataset, and formula produced your result. Nothing is a black box. You can verify our math.

⚖️

No Conflicts of Interest

SalaryGiga does not sell financial products, earn referral commissions, or let advertisers influence our calculator results. Period.

Why Sarah Built SalaryGiga

12 Years of Tax Experience, Now Accessible to Everyone

After over a decade at a Big 4 accounting firm and thousands of individual tax returns, Sarah Mitchell saw the same problem repeatedly: people were making major life decisions — accepting job offers, relocating, negotiating salaries — based on inaccurate salary estimates they found online.

The data to get it right existed. The IRS publishes exact withholding tables. The BLS tracks wages by occupation and metro area. The Census Bureau measures household income. HUD measures housing costs. But nobody had put it all together in one free, accurate, easy-to-use platform.

“I didn’t build SalaryGiga to be another salary website. I built it to be the only one you’ll ever need to trust.”

Sarah personally reviews and updates all data on SalaryGiga every quarter. Every calculator has her name on it — which means every number has to be right.
